Have you ever been curious about the possibilities to shift career into IT & tech? Then, this is the perfect opportunity for you to learn more! At the same time, you get the chance to try out coding. Come join us on Sunday the 11th of December in Stockholm. Let the inspirational session inspire you and learn something new during the workshop. This workshop is 100% beginner-friendly so don't be shy!

You will hear inspiring interviews about the possibilities of a career shift into the IT & tech industry through Academic Work Academy. Here, you will for instance meet a former alumnus who once chose to change career and today works as an IT consultant.

  • Rebecca Tyrstrup - Business Developer IT at Academic Work.
    As a Business Developer within IT I am part of creating the program curriculum in the IT Bootcamps our career shifters attend. I have good insight in the future competence needs of the tech industry!
  • Daniela Alwan - Tech recruiter at the IT consultancy Crowd Collective and an upcoming career shifter who will attend the Academic Work Academy next year.
    I am shifting career to dare to do something I have never done. I have also been inspired of my colleagues on Crowd Collective.
  • Sanna Stenlund - Senior Consultant at the IT consultancy Crowd Collective and a former career shifter and student at Academic Work Academy.
    I've worked in customer service for several years, initially as a first line technical support and then as a retail sales associate. After that, I studied one year of medical engineering where an intro course to programming made me discover my passion for coding, which in turn led me to Academy.
  • Sandra von Lung - Operations Specialist at Academic Work.
    As an operations specialist my daily work consists of meeting candidates who are curious about changing careers and in their journey inspire and coach them towards future careers within IT or Tech.
  • Ebba Waldhauer - Program Manager at Brights.
    In my role, I enable our participants' career change by creating and project-leading our reskilling or upskilling programs.
  • Fanny Sandberg – Attended .NET program 2017 and worked as an employed IT-consultant for the following years. Specialized in platform development and B2E applications mostly within government agencies. Resigned in the beginning of 2022 to start my own company so as of March 2022 living the sweet life of IT-consulting as self-employed.

    Mariana Bocoi - Pink Programming

    Java for complete beginners!

    With the right plan and mindset, learning a programming language is a fun and rewarding experience. In this workshop, we will help you get started with learning Java and share resources, tips and tricks to guide you on your coding journey. Are you interested? Join us; no previous experience is needed!

    The code language we will use is called Java. This is a popular language used in many of the applications you use daily. For instance, it's used for developing applications in games consoles, laptops, cell phones, etc.

      Preparations: Please create an account at github.com and exercism.org before the workshop, and bring your computer! 

      Workshop leader:  Mariana Bocoi - Mariana is an experienced software developer who has worked as a backend developer for more than ten years. She is currently exploring her interest in infrastructure and operations as a DevOps consultant and has been a code mentor at Pink Programming since 2017.

      Code language: Java

      Level: Beginner - Everyone is Welcome!
